Handsomest of the pretentious homes in Montgomery AL

Bibb-Goldthwaithe-Arrington House

Wide plaster moldings around the interior doors in the house and a semi-circular staircase are the most extravagant features of this historic house in Montgomery Alabama.  Fireplace mantels in the principal rooms were carved in marble and wood. Bedrooms with fireplace inserts and converted to coal. See more historic details in the complete series of pictures from the Arrington house.

The address at 203 Church Street and Moulton Street is now dominated by the US Probation & Pretrial court. Do you know if the building was demolished, or relocated (near Hornet Stadium?)

Montgomery is full of history, and dozens of historic houses in separate districts throughout the city have kept their original charm. The picture below shows homes in The Perry Street Historic District. Visit The Montgomery Genealogical Society for more information about the influential families that owned the house over the years.
